Javier Hernández Maradiaga (born May 8, 1988 in Puerto Cortés) is a Honduran swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. Hernandez represented Honduras at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he competed for the men's 200 m butterfly, an event which was later dominated by American swimmer and all-time Olympian Michael Phelps. He swam in the first heat against Peru's Emmanuel Crescimbeni, Croatia's Nikša Roki, and India's Rehan Poncha. He finished the race in last place by one tenth of a second (0.10) behind Crescimbeni, with a time of 2:02.23. Hernandez, however, failed to advance into the semi-finals, as he placed forty-second out of forty-four swimmers in the overall rankings.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.2008.nbcolympics.com/swimming/resultsandschedules/rsc=SWM022900/index.html )〕 Hernandez is also a varsity swimmer for the Lindenwood Lions, and a graduate of business administration at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri. ==References==
